Two Local Leaders Detained After Clash at Wedding Ceremony in Sonbhadra

A wedding in Sonbhadra’s Musahi village turned chaotic after a clash between the sons of local leaders Anil Singh and Nisha Singh. Police intervened, detained both parties, and registered FIRs for breach of peace. The incident highlights rising tensions involving influential figures in the Renukoot region.

A wedding celebration in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh took an unexpected turn late Sunday when a dispute between the sons of two prominent local leaders escalated into a physical altercation, prompting immediate police intervention. The incident occurred in Musahi village under the jurisdiction of Robertsganj Kotwali, drawing attention due to the involvement of families linked with former chairpersons from the Renukoot region.

According to police officials, the confrontation broke out between the son of former chairperson Anil Singh and the son of Nisha Singh during the ceremony. Witnesses reported that a verbal argument soon intensified into a scuffle, creating disruption at the event. Authorities were alerted, and a team from Robertsganj Kotwali reached the venue promptly to restore order.

Both men were taken into custody for questioning, and officers later registered an FIR against several individuals from both sides. Police confirmed that charges of disturbing public peace were filed, and both Abhay Singh and Anil Singh were issued challans in connection with the incident. Investigators stated that the matter is being reviewed to determine whether further action is warranted.

The episode has stirred local political circles, particularly as both families hold influence in the Renukoot area. While the immediate tension has been contained, the case underscores the persistent challenge of managing politically linked disputes that spill into public spaces. Authorities emphasized that strict action will follow if any additional culpability is established during the ongoing inquiry.
